My Personal Five Star Coffee Shop...
221 S Main St, Mount Vernon, OH, 43050: Happy Bean
I first went to Happy Bean in November of 2018 (with Kimberly, of course) and I immediately fell in love with the entire shop. The staff was so friendly, the inside couldn't be more adorable, and the coffee...so good.
Since I'm new to blogging, this is going to be a trial and error. I'm going to leave a review at the end of all of my blogs. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them!
~HISTORY~
Happy Bean first opened in February 2016. In November 2017, Jill Ballenger bought the shop from Cassie and Nate Johnson. Jill graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University and Happy Bean is located in MVNU's downtown nursing building. Jill always wanted to own a coffee shop and had the lucky opportunity to have it in her hometown. Jill said that the business's main goal is to prioritize incredible consistency in quality and offer each customer a moment of hope and happiness in their day. Jill also said that each quarter the business give a percentage of sales to a local nonprofit organization, which is part of their #BrewHope initiative.
My go-to at Happy Bean is a hazelnut cold brew with cream or a hot chai latte (the chai being what I'm drinking in the first photo above!) Both of these drinks have always tasted absolutely delicious, and I loved them both after the first sip! I’ve also bought coffee beans from Happy Bean, and just straight black coffee from there is fantastic.
~PRESENTATION~ ✰✰✰✰✰
Another five star caption! Happy Bean writes their logo on their cups and it's absolutely adorable. Sometimes the workers write random inspirational messages on their coffee sleeves. I love how the bean has a little smile :) If you enjoy your drink there, you can also get it in a glass jar or mug, which is something I find pleasing.
~COFFEE SHOP VIBE~ ✰✰✰✰✰
Everyone who works at Happy Bean has such a positive attitude and makes sure the atmosphere is always friendly. While they have a limited menu, it is handwritten with chalk and looks so neat and aesthetic and that alone attracts people with wide variety to find something. The inside is very rustic looking and has nice accents of teal that coincide with the wood and brick. They also have cute lights everywhere and it's just such an aesthetically pleasing place! I love looking out on Main Street, so I always try to get the singular table right by the window.
~SUMMARY~
Overall this coffeeshop is absolutely amazing. I'm always willing to make the 40 minute drive when I'm home, and if someone asked me right now to go I'd hop right in the car. Happy Bean is undeniably a five star shop to me! There's just something about Mount Vernon in general that will always hold a piece of my heart, and of course Happy Bean has its own piece, too. :)
